Governance:

Paramotor championships in the UK couldn’t take place without the generous support of our governing organisations:

The British Hang Gliding and Paragliding Association

The BHPA supports a country-wide network of recreational clubs and registered schools, and provides the infrastructure within which hang gliding, paragliding, and paramotoring in the United Kingdom (UK) thrive. It oversees pilot and instructor training standards, and provides technical support such as airworthiness standards, and coaching courses for qualified pilots.

It also publishes Skywings, the only magazine dedicated to free flying in the United Kingdom. This glossy full colour magazine is distributed by mail to around 6,500 BHPA members each month as part of their membership package. You can find a number of Skywings articles, written by members of our organisation team and pilots, reproduced in the learning section of this website.

The BHPA provide a generous grant annually to the Paramotor Competitions Panel, which contributes towards helping our top pilots attend international championships, purchasing equipment to help run competitions, and training our British Paramotor Squad.

The British Microlight Aircraft Association

The BMAA is a member-organisation that represents microlight pilots in the UK. It provides an information source for microlight pilots and organises or supports flying events to encourage skills development and a social side to the sport. It influences the legislation that governs microlight flying in the UK, including flight safety, airspace, and airworthiness certifications.

It publishes Microlight Flying magazine, covering news items, reports on flights and aircraft, reports on events and contributions from the staff as well as a report on the activity of the BMAA governing Council. Microlight Flying magazine is a great way to keep in touch and find out what is going on.

The BMAA are designated by the Royal Aero Club as the representative body for paramotoring with the FAI, for international competitions and records. They nominate our paramotor representative at CIMA, the FAI’s microlight and paramotor commission.
