Mobile Phones - 05/04/10

If pilots wish to be able to use the SMS Task Cancellation system, they will need a basic mobile phone with no GPS and no triangulation capability.

If you don't already have a suitable mobile, they can be picked up cheaply online.

The SMS Task Cancellation system enables the Comp Director to inform pilots if he should decide to cancel a task after some or all pilots have taken off. It would only be used if weather conditions should deteriorate and he believes it may be unsafe to continue the task. If the pilots know a task has been cancelled, they won't feel any pressure to continue in borderline conditions.

All of this aside, it is still the individual pilot's responsibility to make his/her own decisions about launching or landing at all times during the competition.

New PPG Comps website goes live! - 26/02/10

Well 2010 has arrived, the milder and drier weather is growing ever closer (supposedly), and with the new year comes a new website. It may look much the same as last year's, but the backend of the website has been significantly improved allowing much easier registration of pilots.

The registration process has been simplified slightly, head on over to the Register page to find out more. We also have a better Registered page which shows pilots who have sent in their registration forms, and then when they have paid.

Don't forget to have a look at the Info page and digest all the vital information on there before registering.

Let us know what you think or if you have any problems using the website: natsppgsecretary@live.co.uk

We wish you a successful flying year and safe landings.
